Happy New Year!! Jan 1, 2010

We celebrated the New Year with breakfast out and then the Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Garden. It was really cool, though hard to explain ahead of time, especially as I had never been. The girls remembered the garden well from the summer (Fer especially has an amazing memory -- she could tell us all about the fruit we bought, what we saw, and who we talked to when we visited in June!) though of course this time it was covered in snow.

Fer took this picture of us in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral:

A few more pictures of the show:

After the show we took a ride around the garden on the tour bus, and then visited the Children's Garden and the gift shop, stopping by the holiday trees along the way:

This afternoon we took the dogs for a walk down to the river and then spent the rest of the time relaxing at home. Wendy, Fer and Chris watched the Bruins-Flyers hockey game, and then, for our sins, the girls continued on with Brian Boitano's Skating Spectacular, complete with live music by the band Chicago. It did buy us 2 hours of time to clean the house and get some work done on the computer, however . . . After that, they did some reading with Padrino, we had dinner (arroz con pollo, yum!), and after showers and Kitty, time for bed!
Tomorrow we head to Boston for the baptism of my sister Amy's twins. Once we get back, we will need to focus on getting ready to go back to Colombia . . . we return a week from tomorrow!
