Well, after a crazy 40 or so hours of getting ready and travelling -- the low point of which was realizing yesterday at 5:30 a.m. that we had forgotten to get our visas!! -- we are here in Bogota! We had a busy and somewhat stressful morning yesterday sorting through the visa issue, which worked out, and then spent the rest of the day packing. We fell into bed at 10 and had to get up at 3 to catch a 7 a.m. flight. As in the summer, the girls were wonderful and practically jumped out of bed to get their shoes on and get ready. Check-in, boarding and the flight were all smooth, and we were even able to pass through immigration more quickly because we had the children with us. Manuela met us at the airport and brought us to our hotel to help us settle in.
We are staying at the Hotel Zuetana, which caters to adopting families. We chose a large room with a queen bed for us and a large single bed for the girls. It is almost like a little studio (picture below) as it is freestanding. The hotel is very comfortable and has a nice little garden with a patio which proved wonderful today for the girls to try out their new rollerblades! They also enjoyed exploring the toy room and playing with their dolls in the strollers. The dolls also joined us for dinner, each in her own high chair. They may have to give up these accessories if some babies arrive but for now it is just us and another couple who do not have any children with them, so they are going to town.
