First of all, happy birthday Tia Amy!! We hope you enjoyed your happy birthday message, Colombian style. :)
Today was another good day -- Wendy and Fer had English class in the morning and then I took them for a walk down to Pomona with Manolo and Esperanza and Tomas. When we returned we had lunch and then walked over to the dog shop that is a few blocks away -- Wendy has been insisting that we buy new leashes for the dogs as coming home presents. So we did, closing our eyes a bit against the Colombian prices. They will certainly be the best-leashed dogs in Riverdale and hopefully we won't see another bill like that for dog accessories for awhile!
We took the girls to the very nice nearby dentist for a cleaning and sealants, and, good news, their teeth are apparently in very good condition. He said they have been brushing well, and before the cleaning he did a little lesson on best brushing practices. They were more taken with the free toothbrushes and toothpaste, as well as the cool orange sunglasses he had them wear to protect their eyes during the cleaning!
When we got back we had a snack (hot chocolate and bread for them, much-needed tea for me) and then played for awhile. We eventually went to a nearby playground with Esperanza, Manolo and Tomas, as well as a German couple who just came back from Naiba with their 5 year old daughter Salome. All the kids enjoyed playing together, and I think it will be fun for the girls to have Salome here for the next few days (they have tickets to go back to Germany on Friday night).
Soon after we got back from the playground, Adriana came to have dinner with us! She was the girls' social worker who traveled with them this summer, and she is wonderful. We had a great time catching up with her and the girls loved seeing her again.
Tomorrow is a big day -- the girls' siblings Hugo and Leidy are coming to have lunch and visit us here at the hotel. It is going to be very hard for all of them to say good-bye. We are hoping for the best, but we are also prepared for the girls to be understandably very sad and upset as the separation becomes even more real.
