This will be short because we are leaving soon with our lawyer to get the girls birth certificates!
Yesterday after the girls' English lesson, we went to the Zoo in Santacruz, about an hour and a half away. It was a gorgeous drive through amazing mountain scenery. Before we went into the zoo, we had lunch nearby at a roadside restaurant. This is my third (or fourth?) time eating at one of these and the food every time has been delicious -- grilled meats, potato, yucca, plantains -- yum!!
It was about an hour's walk through the zoo -- very old school with somewhat mangy animals in small cages. Wendy was surprisingly terrified of the big cats. We had seen many of the same animals at Parque Jaime Duque, but maybe the cages there seemed more substantial, because she really wasn't scared there. We were quite up close and personal with these animals, though!
The birds of Colombia continue to amaze:
And the scenery was incredible as well.
When we got back, another German family had returned from Medellin with their new son Julian. We are now up to 3 German families, one Spanish and us. 6 kids in total, 4 boys under the age of 4 and then our girls. The girls had a great time skating (think back to the photos of their first day on skates here and look at them now!) and playing with the younger children.
