Tomorrow will be our 2 year Famiversary! We feel so blessed. Though there have definitely been challenging periods, overall the trend has been so positive, and we see Fer and Wendy becoming more and more comfortable with their new life in the United States, and more and more connected to us, for which we give enormous thanks.
One concrete sign of progress recently is that they have been sleeping through the night for 3 weeks now, and the two nights that they came to get me were for real needs, such as allergies or needing a new blanket as it gets colder. This is a huge change from earlier in the fall, when we went through weeks of 5 to 6 nights of waking up for almost an hour and often with a very hostile and anxious vibe which was pretty hard to deal with at 2 a.m.! Both girls seem very settled now into our weekly routines of church, therapy, school and aftercare, swimming and dance and soccer, and time with friends. We have a full and wonderful life here in South Orange, and we are so grateful for all the support from family and friends that has made it all possible.
