Gigi and Grand-dad invited us to see The Nutcracker, which was a holiday favorite of mine as a child. We got dressed up and went into the city for the big event. Fer and Wendy liked it very well, but I realized after a whispered question from Wendy about 10 minutes in that I had neglected to explain perhaps the most fundamental quality of ballet -- that the dancers do not talk. The girls were somewhat bemused and confused by that but recovered to enjoy some of the amazing aspects of the show -- the set, the costumes, the incredible growing Christmas tree, the dancing children.
