End of Year -- SOMS and Clinton

May and June brought lots of end of year activities -- concerts at both schools, the Clinton Art show, trips, projects, activities and more!

Fer's Orchestra concert:

Fer's chorus concert:

Wendy's Orchestra concert and Art Show:

Fer's LeFurre Science project (she had to design an extraterrestrial fit to live on an assigned planet -- in her case, Uranus)

Wendy took a field trip with her class to Philadelphia:

And Fer went to the Intrepid in NYC:

As well, Wendy's class enjoyed a pool party, a picnic and a trip to a state park as part of their end of 5th grade year festivities. Tomorrow is her Moving Up day, many tears as we leave Clinton but so much pride in her time there and all she has accomplished. And Fer's last day as a 6th grader at SOMS is today, as tomorrow she will attend Wendy's celebration. It has been an amazing school year, so much growth and progress for all of us. We are so incredibly blessed.

Father's Day

Although the morning of Chris's Father's Day was spent driving back from Virginia, we tried to make up for it with a relaxing afternoon and dinner. The girls gave him cards and Wendy also made one in school. Happy Father's Day to our wonderful Papi! We love you so much.

Monica's Graduation Party

We drove to Virginia to celebrate the first high school graduate in the next generation -- Monica! It was a wonderful time with Gosa and Weeks extended family gathered together. Monica heads to art school at Virginia Commonwealth University in the fall, and we are so proud of her!

Memorial Day in NYC

The Gosas visited NYC for a tourist weekend and we had the chance to join them for an afternoon of art. We had a lovely time walking around the MOMA, seeing some amazing famous paintings -- Picasso, Monet. One interesting/funny thing that happened was that Terrill was chatting with Wendy in his usual warm and kind way and a security guard waved him over to invite him to take a picture "with your daughter" in front of "Starry Night," which is ordinarily not allowed. Lots of cultural undercurrents there, and we didn't stop to correct or explain how our family grouping was constituted as it would have taken awhile!

After a brief stop at their hotel, we ran in the rain to the closest place to eat that we could find, a diner on 57th street. I only got two pictures, of the girls laughing with their cousin Jasmine at dinner.

And then a quick shot of how we ended our field trip into the big city!

Fun with Papi

Wendy had a great time in the Clinton show and was allowed to keep her costume wig. One night she decided it looked better on Papi!

Mother's Day

We went up to Tivoli to celebrate Mother's Day with the family up there. We met at Gigi's restaurant in Rhinebeck, which was a great place to celebrate our own Gigi. Unfortunately Daphne was sick, so only Christine and Jack could join us, but then later in the afternoon we went over to Friendship Street and spent time with Daphne and Matt as well as everyone else. It was a gorgeous day and a fun celebration. The girls gave me a Wii Zumba, not too sentimental but at least they know what I like! And they both chose lovely cards, and Wendy also made me a card which was really sweet.

Cousin Matt's Wedding

We hit the road to Richmond with Matt and Christine to attend our cousin Matthew's wedding. It was at a plantation outside the city, Tuckahoe, where apparently Thomas Jefferson spent some of his childhood. The setting was beautiful and the couple very happy. It was pretty striking to see that the slave quarters were still there, or at least that buildings had been built on the foundations. Chris drove us down there at such speed that we arrived around lunch rather than mid-afternoon, and had the chance to meet up with Gigi and Grandad and also the groom's parents, Aunty Barbara and Uncle Larry, for a lovely outdoor lunch before getting ready for the ceremony. We didn't get any pictures at the ceremony, but we did immortalize ourselves on the trolley which took us to the event.
